The Magic of Flavoring
A couple of weeks ago Anna was developing a terrible cough. We took her in that first week and the doctor told us she just thought it was allergies and to give her some childrens claritin. A few days later she still wasn't getting any better, in fact her cough was much worse. The worse part about it was that she would cough so hard that she would throw-up! So we took her in again to see a new doctor, and he listened to her lungs and said that it could either be some sort of lung disease or asthma. After the appointment he had us go over to the hospital and get some x-rays just to get a better idea as to what was going on. We found out later that day that she had pneumonia, so she was put on an antibiotic right away. Well for the next 3-4 days Kyle and I battled it out trying to get her to take her medicine. We tried everything. We thought she would definitely take it if it was mixed in with a strawberry daiquiri (non-alcoholic of course). She took one sip and told us that it needed to be cleaned. She absolutely refused to drink it. Our final option was to pin her down. However she still would just spit it out. So we once again had to go back to the doctor's office because we were worried that her pneumonia wouldn't go away since she wasn't taking her medicine. Well he prescribed a different type of antibiotic told us to tell the pharmacist to put cherry flavoring in it. That is what did the trick! She guzzled the medicine right down and actually said to us, "More!" Now I feel that she has turned into a little drug addict because she gets SO excited when she gets to take her medicine that she wants more and more.
